After our last meeting in August 2019 we were supposed to gather again in June 2020, to take part in the Holstebro Festuge.
Gosh! We were excited and looking so much forward to this yearly meeting.
But then, the whole world just stopped because of COVID. We were of course not able to travel, not able to gather. That was beyond devastating.
But when in 2021 it was again possible to travel, we decided to meet. To make it Covid safe we chose to gather in isolation, in a village and concentrate on the work with our performance Freaks. Fortunately in the last period we managed to play our concert Voices in the Wind in different small communities, even though we had to drive to Holstebro every week to take a COVID test.
The meeting took place in December 2021, in Stendis in a campsite building called“Stendislejren” ( Stendis Camp), 20 kilometers from Holstebro, Denmark.
Stendis Lejren is an old building with many rooms, a huge industrial kitchen and a lovely working space. It is great for meetings of larger groups. We enjoyed being there very much.
The owners, Poul Erik and Kathryn Nicole Birkholm, generously gave us the space for free. We only needed to pay the running costs.
We worked for three weeks on our daily physical and vocal training, our concert Voices in The Wind and on our performance Freaks.
We performed the concert in a nursing home Rydehjemmet (after presenting our covid vaccine certificates), Ringkøbing-Skjern Kulturcenter, Herning Gymnasium, Vinderup Kirke- og Kulturhus and Kirsten Kjærs Museum, where we also taught one of our songs to the audience.
At Teatret OM, besides singing the concert, we also bartered with Teater for Alle, Ringkobing.
As a conclusion of our activities we were supposed to have a full day of activities with kids at the Margrethe Reedtz Skolen, Ryde. But at the very last moment due to new Covid restrictions we had to come out with a Plan B, consisting of a short parade outside. Street parade in a winter wonderland Denmark may not seem like a good idea, but we nailed it and kids just loved it!
